Please tell us about your future plans once you graduate from Southern Arkansas University.
After graduating with my bachelor’s, I will work to finish my MBA. Then, I plan to begin my career with a job focused on the supply chain management field.
How are your experiences in the Rankin College of Business preparing you for your professional career?
Through my experiences, I have improved my leadership, communication, and public speaking skills. In addition, I can better implement critical thinking skills to analyze and solve problems that do not have clear guidelines already set, which is an imperative ability to have in any career.
What specific courses have been your favorite, and why?
My favorite courses have been Statistics and Analytics I & II because I like working with numbers and formulas, and the courses allowed me to improve my Excel skills. I also enjoyed Retirement Planning because the information was interesting and important to know to plan for your future successfully.
Have you been involved in any of the RCB’s special programs?
I am an active member of FBLA Collegiate and have the opportunity to compete in various business competitions each year. Being a member of the Business Student Advisory Council has allowed me to attend numerous RCB events and take a leadership role in planning and helping run events such as Rankin Rankings and Light for the Fight. Additionally, I have participated in the RCB mentorship program, which allowed me to gain advice from an RCB alumni and assistance in acquiring a summer internship. Furthermore, I have participated in several travel opportunities, including the Italy study abroad, the FBLA Collegiate national competition in Chicago, and the supply chain management trip to Houston. Each RCB program has allowed me to get to know fellow students, professors, and alumni and expand my skill set for my future career.
Do you have any favorite memories with Rankin College of Business faculty or fellow students?
Participating in the Italy study abroad trip allowed me to form countless memories with fellow students and professors. The opportunity to experience another country and its culture, along with trying new cuisines and visiting landmarks, was amazing. Doing all this with fellow students and our professors allowed us to become closer and form lifelong friendships and memories.
What advice would you offer to a new student beginning their course of study at the Rankin College of Business?
To a new student, I recommend taking advantage of the opportunities offered within the RCB. There are numerous organizations, events, and trips available for students to be a part of that not only allow you to get to know fellow students and professors but also provide the opportunity to expand your network and gain crucial knowledge and skills that will be beneficial during your college career and in the workforce.
