Whitney Gass, assistant professor of criminal justice at Southern Arkansas University, has been appointed by Gov. Asa Hutchinson to the Arkansas Board of Corrections. Her term on the board is for seven years, and it is retroactive to Jan. 1, 2017. Southern Arkansas University was the recipient of a state grant from Arkansas Natural and Cultural Resources Council totaling $150,000 to transform the historic Ozmer House. The restoration of the house and grounds will create a working farmstead in the heart of campus. Along with the grant, the Ozmer family contributed $40,000 to meet the total project cost of $190,000.
