More teachers will be needed for the increasingly popular Mulerider Kids College (MKC) in 2017, and class proposals are now being accepted for anyone up for the rewarding experience of teaching at one or both of the MKC camps coming next summer. Southern Arkansas University is scheduled to recognize 351 graduate students and 127 undergraduates during two Fall Commencement ceremonies at 5 and 7 p.m. on Friday, December 9, 2016. Both ceremonies will take place in the gymnasium at the W.T. Watson Athletic Center. The Columbia County Angel Tree at Southern Arkansas University will be accepting donations and sponsors of area children through Dec. 14, said Sandra Martin, dean of housing. Martin said University Housing has been coordinating Angel Tree for the past three years. She said the number of “angel children” so far this year stands at 440, exceeding last year’s 320 children.
