Please tell us about your future plans once you graduate from Southern Arkansas University.
After I graduate with my bachelor’s degree I plan to obtain my MBA while pursuing a career in the insurance industry.
How are your experiences in the Rankin College of Business preparing you for your professional career?
While taking courses and being a part of organizations within the RCB, I have gained important leadership, critical thinking, communication, and problem solving skills. Many of my courses have also incorporated group projects that gave me experience working with peers. These skills have increased my confidence in my abilities, which I believe will help me throughout my career.
What specific courses have been your favorite, and why?
I would say that my top three are Personal Finance, Life & Health Insurance, and Enterprise Risk Management. Personal Finance was my first class within the RCB and taught me so much information that will help me throughout my adulthood. I loved personal finance so much I became the supplemental instructor for the course. Life & Health Insurance and Enterprise Risk Management dive deep into insurance and risk management, and I absolutely love it!
Have you been involved in any of the RCB’s special programs?
I am a part of the BSAC (Business Student Advisory Council), BSIAC (Business Student Investment Advisory Council), and I also have competed with FBLA for the last 2 years.
Do you have any favorite memories with Rankin College of Business faculty or fellow students?
One of my favorite memories was my first Rankin Rankings. It was so fun seeing the different departments have a friendly competition.
What advice would you offer to a new student beginning their course of study at the Rankin College of Business?
I would recommend that they use their resources and network. RCB has some of the most caring and help staff and faculty. Visit your professors during their office hours if you have questions. RCB staff & faculty work hard to bring many opportunities for their students to network and be successful, take advantage of that!
