Please tell us about your future plans once you graduate from Southern Arkansas University.
Once I graduate, I plan on continuing my MBA and beginning a 2-year business analytics internship with Murphy USA in the summer of 2025. Hopefully, that will provide a solid foundation for F.B.I. analytics work in the distant future.
How are your experiences in the Rankin College of Business preparing you for your professional career?
Being the President of Future Business Leaders of America and being active within the Business Student Advisory Council, I have adapted my abilities to fit my roles. Being a leader is a good title, but you might not fit the role initially. Being able to identify my faults and ask for help gave me insight into the flexibility and adaptability required in a professional career.
What specific courses have been your favorite, and why?
Retailing and Intermediate Income Tax have been my favorites. Both Ms. Parajuli and Mrs. Riley have a way of incorporating games into their learning, which keeps the class enthralled.
Have you been involved in any of the RCB’s special programs (like MBA 4+1, travel, EPIC, organizations, special events, etc.)? If so, tell us about your experience.
MBA 4+1
I am beginning my MBA 4+1 Program this Spring. My first class is business analytics, which I plan on doing in the long term. I have a lot on my plate, but I am excited for what the future holds.
Traveling
Traveling to Africa has been a dream of mine since I was younger. Studying Kenya and its economic transactions provided a great educational experience for us all. While there were some impoverished areas, there was also a well-established city and vast land. It was an experience-packed trip that led to new emotional and idealistic discoveries within me.
Participating in Future Business Leaders of America over the past few years has given me the opportunity to see Chicago and Atlanta. While the places we visited were fantastic, I must accredit most of my friendships to these trips. From playing cards in the hotel to getting ice cream at night, taking time with others personally, such as this, provides excellent networking opportunities. These trips have also promoted networking with other students at various colleges across the United States.
Do you have any favorite memories with Rankin College of Business faculty or fellow students?
Rankin Rankings is relatively new. Seeing the professors and the students join together to battle it out solidifies the fact that Southern Arkansas University is like “family”. Seeing your professors’ secretly competitive sides makes for an amazing afternoon of community and fun.
What advice would you offer to a new student beginning their course of study at the Rankin College of Business?
Remember that you are having a practice run of your future. If you cannot bear the classes, you might not be able to bear the career. My grandfather wanted me to be a doctor, and I willingly went with it. I could barely imagine taking biology classes for four years after just the first semester. Being a business major, I feel like I can be in school forever. Now, I am beginning my M.B.A.!
