At the Rankin College of Business, we are committed to preparing students for successful professional careers by focusing on a combination of academic rigor, practical experience, and professional development. We offer a robust curriculum that integrates theoretical knowledge with practical applications. Courses in accounting, finance, marketing, management, and other business disciplines ensure that students gain a deep understanding of core business concepts. We incorporate data analytics and relevant software tools such as Power BI, Python and Tableau into our courses. For example, courses like accounting data analytics help students develop analytical skills that are increasingly in demand in the workforce. In addition, we encourage students to pursue certifications such as Certified Management Accountant (CMA), Certified Public Accountant (CPA), and others, providing guidance on the preparation required for these exams. Faculty members actively mentor students, providing advice on academic progress, career paths, and professional growth.
Are you a member of any professional organizations?
Yes, I am a member of the American Accounting Association (AAA) and the Institute of Management Accountants (IMA). These memberships help me stay connected with the latest developments in the accounting profession and offer valuable resources for both my teaching and research.
What do you enjoy most about your work?
What I enjoy most about my work is the chance to engage with students and support their academic and professional development. It’s incredibly rewarding to witness students deepen their understanding of complex accounting and business concepts and apply these ideas in real-world contexts. I also appreciate the collaborative aspect of academic research, which allows me to explore topics like ESG, accounting information systems, auditing, and financial disclosures.
Moreover, I value the flexibility and creativity that both teaching and research offer. Lastly, I truly enjoy the transparent and supportive working culture at the Rankin College of Business, where everyone is friendly and always willing to help.
What advice would you offer to a new student beginning their course of study at the Rankin College of Business?
