Mr. Jim Andrews ’86

Jim F. Andrews, Jr. has served on the Business Advisory Council since 2017 and currently serves as its Chair. He is a 1986 graduate of Southern Arkansas University earning a Bachelor of Business Administration. His post-graduate degrees include a Master of Business Administration from Baylor University and a Juris Doctor from Southern Methodist University. He is a licensed attorney in the states of Arkansas and Texas, specializing in contract law, commercial transactions and general corporate law.
He currently serves as General Counsel for the Arkansas Department of Parks, Heritage and Tourism. He is also of counsel to the law firm of PPGMR of Little Rock, Arkansas. He has previously served as in-house legal counsel to Deltic Timber Corporation of El Dorado, Arkansas from 2001 to 2018 and as its Vice President, General Counsel & Secretary from 2010 to 2018. His business career spans four decades in a variety of business functions for companies ranging from start-ups to the Fortune 500.
His public service includes serving in the United States Navy Reserve from 1995 to 2006, attaining the rank of Lieutenant Commander. He has previously served on Southern Arkansas University’s Alumni Association Board as well as its Foundation Board of Governors. He currently serves on the Executive Board for Economics Arkansas and on the Arkansas Economic Development Council to which he was appointed by Governor Asa Hutchinson in 2018.
Mr. Andrews is a sixth generation resident of El Dorado, Arkansas where he and his wife Amanda (B.S. 2012) are the proud parents of James, Sierra, Fisher, and Lauren. In his spare time, he enjoys a variety of outdoor activities – mostly in his home state of Arkansas.
