The Intramural Sports Program is designed to accommodate all skill levels and to meet the recreational interests and needs of the SAU Community. The objective of the Intramural Sports Program is to offer a variety of physical activities, promote a high level of physical fitness, enrich social competence, transform spectators into active participants, and develop healthy relationships. All current students, faculty, and staff are eligible to participate in the programs. Competition is offered in men’s, women’s, and co-rec divisions.
For major sports, students can register at www.imleagues.com. For single-day sports, students just show up 10 minutes prior to the start of the scheduled event.
A schedule of events is located on the SAU MAC website at http://web.saumag.edu/mac/intramurals/ and on www.imleagues.com or a student may pick up one on campus at the Mulerider Activity Center. Events are also on the events calendar on our website.
All participants must present a current SAU ID before each intramural contest. No exceptions will be made. (MUST BE CURRENTLY ENROLLED!)
No! All IM activities are provided at no cost to all currently enrolled SAU students, or SAU faculty and staff.
No! Intramurals are open to everyone of every skill level. There may be an A and B playoff bracket during playoffs in some sports though to give participants more options.
Each intramural participant on a winning team will win the coveted Championship T-shirt. A new t-shirt is designed each year.
Rules for each sport can be found on the IM Sports Homepage, under Handbooks and Manuals, on the left-hand side.
Attending the captains meetings provided for each sport will ensure that your team will begin the season with the provided information for the rules and information to the rest of the team. Captains serve as the “liaison” between SAU Intramural sports and their team. Captains also serve as their team representative.
It is the large field in front of the Village apartments, also in front of the pond beside Oliver Band Hall.
For major sports, if you are a free agent looking for a team to play on, you can create an account on the online registration page (IMLeagues.com) and once you create an account, you can sign up as a free agent. Once you are on the IMLeagues.com site, you will also be able to see which teams are looking for more players and you can contact the captains to join those teams as well. For minor sports, just show up 10 minutes before the start time to see if anyone needs an additional player/partner.
If the wrong score is listed on the website, the captain should immediately contact the intramural staff.
All ejected players must schedule a meeting with the assistant director and/or coordinator of Intramural sports before he or she is permitted to participate in future intramural sports contests. The suspension will remain on your account until this meeting is completed and a decision has been made.
A forfeit occurs when a team does not have the minimum number of players present and signed in at game time or fail to appear for a game entirely.
If a player is not added to the roster BEFORE the deadline, he or she cannot participate. No exceptions will be made.
Depends on the sport, but in most cases this will result in a forfeit.
Yes, you can! We have a restriction on this, however. Varsity athletes may not play in their parallel sport while they are on the varsity team (ex. A current SAU baseball or softball player may not play IM Softball). Also, if a Varsity athlete wishes to play in their parallel sport, they must sit out one full academic year (365 days) starting from the end of their last varsity season.

- Baseball/Softball – Softball
- Basketball – Basketball (in any form)
- Football – Flag Football (in any form)
- Volleyball – Volleyball (in any form)
Tennis – Tennis
There are four major sports SAU offers. Two in the fall and two in the spring. The two in the fall are Football and Volleyball. The two in the spring are Basketball and Softball. These major sports are 5-week long; 4 weeks of regular play and 1 week of playoffs.
No GPA requirement is required. As long as you are a Current SAU student, faculty, or staff, have gotten signed up through IMLeagues ( when required), and have your SAU ID to check – in.
Send an e-mail to Sarah Adcox and let her know what sports and activities you would like to see in the upcoming semester. Due to limited gym, field space and time/supply constraints, not all requests can be accommodated.
