Mr. John Armour ’89
CFO, Methodist Hospital and Methodist Children’s Hospital
John Armour has served on the Business Advisory Council since 2017 and currently serves as its Secretary. He is a 1989 graduate of Southern Arkansas University earning a Bachelor of Business Administration with an accounting major. His post-graduate degree includes a Master of Business Administration from Northcentral University. John is a past recipient of SAU Distinguished Alumni award.
John currently serves as Chief Financial Officer at San Antonio’s Methodist Hospital and Methodist Children’s Hospital. The 811-bed acute care hospital, three ambulatory surgery centers, and five free standing emergency departments, is the flagship of the HCA San Antonio Division. This complex operation is a partnership between HCA and Methodist Healthcare Ministries, the largest non-public funding source of community health care in South Texas. John has over 25 years of healthcare financial management, operations management, and accounting experience. His resume includes stints as: Chief Financial Officer of HCA Houston Healthcare’s Clear Lake, Mainland, Pearland, Kingwood, Southeast facilities as well as Texas Orthopedic Hospital, and Chief Executive Officer for Parallon Supply Chain Solutions Gulf Coast Division. John has been instrumental in many growth and development initiatives throughout his career and was recognized as a Houston Business Journal CFO of the Year nominee in 2018.
His public service includes serving on the SAU Alumni Board, is a past member Houston Golf Association where he has served on the board as Finance Chair, Audit Committee Chair, and Vice-Chairman. John also held a seat on the Bay Area Communities in Schools board and served on its legislative committee. He is a member of The Woodlands Country Club in the Woodlands, Texas and Boot Ranch Golf Club in Fredericksburg, Texas.
John has been happily married to Kelli Nations for almost 30 years and they have a 19-year daughter, Abigail, who is a sophomore at Southern Methodist University in Dallas.
