The SAU Online Course Self-Evaluation Tool can be used in one of two ways:
- A “self-evaluation” tool – assisting instructors on how to revise their existing course
- A roadmap – assisting instructors on how to design a new course for the online environment
The following guide, adapted from the 2010 Blackboard Exemplary Course Program Rubric, provides a detailed description of the rating scale for key standards in an online course and can be used in conjunction with the SAU Online Course Self-Evaluation Tool. The performance ratings are Exemplary, Meets Criteria, Partially Meets Criteria, Does not Meet Criteria, and Not Applicable. The Exemplary rating, not currently a rating on the SAU Online Course Self-Evaluation Tool, serves as a model of best practices for Course Design, Interaction and Collaboration, Assessment and Learner Support.
