Access to Electronic Resources
If you are on campus, click on (or mouse-over) Databases by Title or E-Journals by Title in the drop-down menu at the top of any library web page. If you are off-campus, you will be prompted for a user name and password after clicking on the database you have selected. Enter your network computer login (the login Technology Services assigned to you for access to campus computers and to Blackboard). Off-campus access to databases is only available to SAU students, faculty, and staff. Learn more by watching our video tutorial: Electronic Resources: How to Find E-Books, E-Articles, Videos, & Other Materials within Magale’s Electronic Collections
If you are a new student, or you have never used your network login before, you will need to contact Technology Services (870-235-4083) to get login information. If you have forgotten your login, you may contact the Circulation Desk (870-235-4170) or Technology Services. Your network login will give you access to most databases without needing additional passwords. If you time out of a database, or if you close your browser, you may need to log in again.
NOTE: Library resources must be accessed using the links provided on the Magale Library website each time they are accessed. Usernames and passwords are typically the same as for Blackboard:
Passwords: (same as for Blackboard password)
The library’s electronic resources include accessibility tools and features. Individuals needing assistance may ask library staff.
Faculty, staff, and students must have a valid Southern Arkansas University ID card to check out materials. ID cards are available at Camp Hall from Information Technology Services (870-235-4083).
What may be borrowed?
Items that may be checked out include books, VHS tapes, DVDs, audiocassette books, and music CDs. Items that may not be checked out include current periodicals, bound periodicals, reference materials, microforms, and maps.

Overdue fines are 10 cents per item, per day. Students’ academic records will be put on hold if items are overdue. If items are not returned, items will be billed to the corresponding user account.

Books and other items may be renewed once by phone or in-person for the same period of time as the original check out. However, if another patron has requested an item you have checked out, you will not be able to renew it.
Where are reserve items located?
Reserve items are located at the Check-Out Desk. Most are “in-library use only”. The loan period for reserve materials is noted on the front of each item. Reserve overdue fines are $1.00 per item per hour, starting with the first minute the item is overdue.
What if I lost an item?
If an item is lost, charges include the replacement cost, plus a $5.00 processing fee.
