South Arkansas College is seeking a Skilled Tradesman. The Skilled Tradesman is responsible for the general maintenance, repair, and improvement of buildings, grounds, equipment, and infrastructure to support the operations, safety, and appearance of campus. This position reports to the Director of Physical Plant and is governed by state and federal laws and institutional policy.
Responsibilities:
- Perform skilled maintenance, repair, installation, and renovation work in one or more trades, including electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, painting, welding, or general maintenance.
- Perform preventive maintenance on campus facilities, building systems, and equipment.
- Assemble, install, test, troubleshoot, and repair electrical wiring, fixtures, control devices, and related equipment in campus buildings and other facilities.
- Perform general carpentry using hand and power tools to repair and construct structures, including work involving wood, drywall, roofing, painting, and glass installation.
- Respond promptly to routine maintenance requests and emergency repair situations.
- Inspect buildings and equipment to identify maintenance needs and safety concerns.
- Assist with campus event setup, weather-related response, and other facilities operations as needed.
- Assist other skilled trades personnel to complete projects requiring multiple trades or departments.
- Maintain an inventory of tools, equipment, materials, and parts related to assigned trade responsibilities.
- Observe safe work methods and makes appropriate use of related safety equipment as required.
- Maintain work areas in a clean and orderly condition, including securing equipment at the close of the workday.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
