Dear Student or Advisor:
Thank you so much for your interest in forming a new student organization at Southern Arkansas University. We are so glad you have decided to become involved in student activities and are ready to embark on a new and exciting journey with your organization.
There are a few things that are required of any new student organization at Southern Arkansas University. The SAU Student Handbook states that every student organization must provide a constitution and purpose statement before being considered. Please be sure to attach these two documents to your application. Also, please attach a separate sheet or include in your constitution a statement that explains your new organization’s terms of membership, which may include but is not limited to grade point requirements, monthly dues, membership costs/expenses, etc. If you would like a sample constitution from which to work, we can provide an electronic copy to you.
Once you have completed the attached application and have provided all of the necessary requirements, your organization will be reviewed by the assistant dean for student activities, the Student Government Association, and the Student Affairs Committee. This process may take up to one month. You will be contacted by the Office of Student Activities as soon as a decision has been made.
