Southern Arkansas University is a school with deep roots and rich tradition, and one of those traditions is our own version of tailgating, called Mulegating! Mulegating takes place before every home football game at Rip Powell Field, and hundreds of fans attend every weekend. This week’s blog will help you enhance your Mulegating experience and give you tips on how to Mulegate harder!
Get there earlier!
Now, I know it’s not that fun waking up early, especially on a Saturday, but it’s worth it. The early bird gets the worm, and this is true at Mulegate, where you can get first dibs at all the delicious food that’s (basically) on-tap!
You can find hot dogs, hamburgers, and sometimes even a barbecue while Mulegating! Who would want to miss out on that?
Bring games!
At Mulegate, there are plenty of activities outside of the delicious food, including cornhole (or baggo where I’m from!), lawn darts, horseshoes, and even bounce-houses! If none of those games is your particular forte, bring your own to play with others! There are plenty of people and a variety of ages, so don’t be shy!
Last time I went to Mulegate, I brought one of my favorite board games and some friends. We set up a table and played while we waited for the game to start.
Meet new people!
Not only do you get to have fun and eat delicious food, but you can meet new people. You have at least one thing in common with everyone there!
The football team also does meet-and-greets, and there’s usually a band performing, so there are plenty of friend-making and networking opportunities!
SAU Homecoming will be October 19th as the Muleriders will face Southeastern Oklahoma State University at 2:30 pm in at Wilkins Stadium. See you there, Muleriders!
