The semester is almost halfway over, but SAU Athletics is in full swing. Let’s run through a few of the events that SAU will be involved in the coming week!
On Friday, September 27th, the SAU Men’s and Women’s Tennis Teams will take a trip to Arkansas Tech for the Great American Conference Individual Championships. Last year, SAU claimed a couple of individual championships in Russellville and here’s hoping for a few more!
On Saturday, September 28th, the SAU Football team will also take a trip to Russellville to take on the Wonderboys of Arkansas Tech. Arkansas Tech has started the season 0-3, losing last week to Henderson State in a close game. SAU started the season 2-0 but lost big to Harding University on Family Day at Rip Powell Field. The Muleriders hope to bounce back, especially after crushing Arkansas Tech last season 38-0.
On Monday, September 30th and Tuesday, October 1st, the SAU Women’s Golf Team will take a trip to Edmond, Oklahoma to participate in the University of Central Oklahoma Classic. The Muleriders have finished in the middle-of-the-pack the past few competitions as they hope to make a big leap at the beginning of next week.
On Tuesday, October 1st, the SAU Women’s Volleyball Team will take on Henderson State University here in Magnolia. This matchup comes after SAU dropped their home-opener against the University of Arkansas-Monticello Cotton Blossoms. Two days later, on Thursday, October 3rd, the team will take on Harding University in Searcy.
On Friday, October 4th, the SAU Men’s and Women’s Tennis Teams will make-way to Oklahoma City for the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Regional Round.
Finally, on Saturday, October 5th, the SAU Men’s Cross Country Team will head to Fayetteville to compete in the Chile Pepper Cross Country Festival.
