The internship classes (AGRI 4452 and AGRI 4451) in the Agriculture Department are designed to give students collegiate learning experiences in a work environment. There are two classes. Both must be completed. AGRI 4452 gives credit for the actual work experience while AGRI 4451 requires the writing of a paper and a presentation that covers the internship experience. The internship classes are for students that have completed their sophomore year. Only in exceptional cases will a freshman qualify for these classes.
We have attempted to allow as much flexibility in the internships as possible, but each internship should provide education in an area that will benefit the student in his or her career goals, as well as increase the student’s knowledge in some aspect of Agriculture. Students must work 240 hours during the internship.
After completing the work portion of the internship over the summer, the students are required to prepare a paper on their activities during the internship and to prepare and present a presentation about their internship.
