What is LiveText?
LiveText is a comprehensive electronic assessment tool that provides faculty with the ability to analyze and track student learning outcomes over time. It has been adopted as the tool of choice for university-wide assessment. Beginning this fall, LiveText will be used to assess general education learning goals as well as program-specific learning goals.
Is it the same as Blackboard?
No. Blackboard is considered a “learning management system” where faculty post course materials, quizzes, and take care of attendance and grading. At present, faculty at SAU do not have the ability to manage student performance over time using Blackboard.
Where do my students get it?
Students must register with LiveText to obtain an account. Students have been assigned a specific key code to register and it can be found in the student view of Campus Connect. Once a student logs into their Campus Connect account, they should scroll down through the opening announcements, and their keycode will be listed toward the bottom of the screen.
How do my students register for an account?
Registration is easy! All students have been provided with a link to a short video that will take them step-by-step through the registration process.
How will I know if my students have it?
All active SAU students were billed for LiveText at registration. It is a one-time fee that will provide students LiveText access for five years.
Where do I get my account and how do I register my account?
Unlike students, faculty do not register for a LiveText account. You are provided with a faculty account through the Office of Institutional Effectiveness.
How will my students know if an instructor requires it?
Because the use of LiveText is new on our campus, not every instructor is requiring its use. Selected general education courses and specific degree program courses will utilize LiveText this fall. You will also need to inform your students whether you are utilizing LiveText in your course.
What if I need help?
LiveText provides excellent technical support 24/7. You may also contact the Office of Institutional Effectiveness for assistance
