Graduate Students Procedures for Applying for a Student Loan
- File the current Free Application for Federal Student Aid (fafsa). www.fafsa.ed.gov
- Complete a loan application. You can either mail it in or file it online by going to www.saumag.edu and clicking on financial aid.
- If this is the first time that you are getting a loan at Southern Arkansas University, you will need to complete an on-line entrance interview. Follow the steps listed below. Once we receive notification that you have completed your entrance counseling, we will finish processing your loan.
- Visit http://www.saumag.edu/finaid/
- Select “Entrance Interview”
- Click on “Student Loan Counseling Interview”
- Click on “Stafford Entrance”
- After reading the instructions, begin the test by completing Step 1 at the bottom of the page
- Read the information provided on the left side of the screen and answer all the questions on the right side of the screen. Click on “Submit Answers”
- After finishing the test, you will receive an online form to complete. Please provide all the requested information, review it, and click “submit: The information will be sent to your school financial aid office. Print the confirmation page or note your confirmation number for your records
- If this is the first time that you are receiving a loan from the lender you have chosen, you must complete a master promissory note. This can be done online AFTER you have received your loan notification from the Office of Financial Aid.
You may access the application at: www.saumag.edu/finaid/, select Online MPN. Once you have completed your portion of the application we will be able to continue processing your loan request. - For summer loans, the Office of Financial Aid will need a copy of your schedule as well as a short summer form completed. These forms are available in the Office of Financial Aid around the middle of March.
