Four intern part-time positions are available this coming Summer of 2024 in one of the local industries in Magnolia within the 1.5-mile circle of the SAU campus. Dr. Hayder Zghair, Department of Engineering, College of Science and Engineering, led the opportunity. Engineering and Business students are invited to apply. At the end of the semester, this opportunity could be turned into a full-time position. It depends on the best performance and your degree standing.
Total weekly hours are between 16 – 20 hours/week, which could be visit/day, two visits/day, or three custom visits during the week. Each visit is four hours.
The nature of the job is working on one of a four projects, each is planned to be one student to practice industrial continues improvement skills such as manufacturing, quality, process waste elimination, production planning… etc. Team-based work identifies problems that cause the root and suggests solutions. It will be supervised by the Faculty supervisor and Industrial supervisor. High-level courses (ENGR Applied Project) are also available to register for and could fit into your elective course pool. Prior training for five days and a certificate will be provided.
Qualifications:
- SAU engineering student of at least junior classification
- Knowledge in the manufacturing engineering processes, operations management, quality, and preferably Lean manufacturing systems
Responsibilities:
- Coordinate with a team of three
- Identify problems and suggest solutions for the existing manufacturing assembly line.
- Practice industrial engineering skills such as manufacturing, quality, production planning, maintenance, etc.
