Online M.Ed. Programs

Welcome to the Online Master of Education Degree Programs at Southern Arkansas University. We are excited about the journey you have chosen and hope our online program offerings will be both professionally and personally rewarding to you. The decision to complete a Master’s degree in Education is one of the most important decisions you will make in your professional life and we want to assist you in any way possible to make this a worthwhile experience.

There are four different tracks available to students: Curriculum and Instruction Emphasis, Reading emphasis, Middle Level emphasis (with available endorsement), and Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages-TESOL emphasis (with available endorsement).  Neither the Curriculum and Instruction nor the Reading emphasis tracks lead to licensure. Both of these tracks are intended to strengthen the practice of the classroom teacher.  The Middle Level emphasis track allows students the benefit of taking the required courses for endorsement, which can then be applied toward the advanced degree.  Likewise, the TESOL track allows students to take the required courses for the endorsement, and those courses can then be applied toward the advanced degree.  (Note:  the courses required for the TESOL endorsement are only offered face-to-face.)

While each of the tracks offer a different concentration of courses, all are aligned with the National Board of Professional Teaching Standards.  Please click on the link to any of these tracks to read more about the offerings.

Other important information to view is Admission into Online Programs, Exit from Online Programs, Online Program Documents, and Online M.Ed. Forms and Documents.

The online faculty looks forward to working with you to achieve your educational goals. It is our pleasure to have you as a student and we extend a warm welcome to you as a member of the online program.
