Career Pathway | Pathway Description |
Agriculture | The Agriculture career pathway is for students who aren’t afraid of a little dirt! Students will be exposed to a wide range of hands-on activities within the field of Agriculture. They will learn the importance of soil, how water travels through leaves of a plant, why leaves change color, what happens to the grass in a cow’s stomach, and how to make cheese. Anyone interested in being a farmer or scientist that studies soil, plants, food, or poultry would enjoy this career pathway. |
Biology | If you’ve ever wondered how whales stay warm in freezing waters or what the inside of sheep brains look like, this career pathway is for you! Students will participate in the dissection of numerous animal parts to understand the structure and function of each organ. They will also get to practice veterinary skills such as injection methods and examining live animals with the help of a local Veterinarian. If you’re interested in becoming a marine biologist, doctor, or veterinarian, to name a few, join us in the Biology career pathway. |
Business | Are you interested in becoming an entrepreneur? What about a marketing executive? Join us in the Business career pathway to explore different ways to advertise a product, how to budget money, and generate ideas that could start a business! Students will learn how to create a business plan and make it successful. This career pathway will expose students to several careers including social media marketing, business management, and finance. |
Criminology | Are you ready to dive into the life of an Investigations Officer or CSI Investigator? If so, come experience the fun in the Criminology career pathway. Students will gain hands-on experience with various methods used in crime scene investigation and law enforcement. They will learn how to take fingerprints, extract DNA, participate in a moot court, and solve investigations. This career pathway will expose students to careers such as being a Police Officer, Search & Rescue Officer, Detective, and much more! |
Engineering | Structural, mechanical, and software engineering skills will be developed in the Engineering career pathway. Students will construct bridges, roller coasters, and Nintendo Labo kits to understand how things are built and how machines work. They will interact with technology to understand software engineering by working with Nintendo switches and 3D printers. If you’re interested in becoming an engineer, this career pathway is for you! |
Education | The Education career pathway is designed for students interested in any form of teaching. Students will learn how to teach in a fun and creative manner, how to construct lesson plans and tips and tricks on how to grab the attention of their audience. They will also have the opportunity to teach the class one of their favorite topics by combining the skills they will learn over the camp. This will allow students to express themselves visually and orally. |
Gaming & Animation | Do you love playing video games? Have you ever thought about creating your own? If so, the Gaming & Animation career pathway is perfect for you! Students will learn how to make their first video game, how animation works, and learn programming skills. They will be exposed to software programs that will teach them how to code, interact with objects in a virtual environment, and how to create a stop motion animation to share with the entire class. |
Health | Anyone interested in being a doctor, nurse, pharmacist, or microbiologist is encouraged to join us in the Health career pathway! Students participating in this pathway will understand basic health and safety by learning how to care for burns, snakebites, sunburns and more. They will also investigate the aspects of nutrition and diet by looking at food groups, vitamins, and creating their own food diary. Students will be involved in a mock urine analysis to diagnose a patient with diabetes. |
Performing & Visual Arts | Lights, Camera, Action! The Performing & Visual Arts career pathway will expose students to the basics of makeup, design, singing, acting, and dancing. Students will be able to express themselves by learning to apply stage makeup, create special effects, and design pottery. They will also learn fun and energetic musical theatre pieces to perform at the end of the week. This career pathway will focus on careers such as acting, singing, dancing, and art design. |
Wildlife & Outdoor Recreation | If you like the outdoors and learning about the impact you can have on the environment, then the Wildlife & Outdoor Recreation career pathway was designed for you! Students will learn about one of our greatest resources; water. They will learn about hydropower, the devastation and cleanup of oils spills, and explore the biodiversity of plants and animals on campus. Students will also get the opportunity to bird watch, catch bugs, and press plants. This pathway will cover many careers such as wildlife biology, park ranger, and much more. |

Dirty Energy | Are you interested in green energy and protecting our planet? Consider a career in renewable energy! Students will learn about and experiment with dirt batteries, a form of clean alternative energy. Students will work to construct the best battery from dirt to power electronic devices. |
Escape Room | Do you have what it takes to find the hidden treasure or escape from the Egyptian tomb!? Find out in this class that uses clues and riddles to solve the mystery! Each day will bring a new adventure! |
Kool Krafts | This class is for the crafty teens of teen college! From slime to moon sand, be ready to get your hands dirty! Students will get their hands in on some super fun activities and will get to take their finished product home. |
Mule Sports Mania | Students will participate in a different sport each day. Sport options include basketball, touch football, wiffle ball, soccer and kick ball. This class will provide students the opportunity to learn about and participate in healthy physical activities. Each class will provide students with the opportunity to engage with fellow students as part of a team. |
Mulerider Mascot Mystery | The Mulerider mascot is missing! It’s a sad day on the campus of SAU. We no longer feel safe and serene now that our mascot has disappeared. We have some leads, but we can’t see how all of the clues add up. We’re baffled! We have no physical evidence. Someone tampered with the cameras, and we don’t know what happened. The thieves were smart and left no trace of even being there! We need groups who are invested completely in this search. Help us find out where the mascot is and who the thieves are. There might even be a prize! |
Polished | This class is for students that want to learn application and techniques for make-up and hair styling. Topics will include hair care techniques, flat ironing, curling, simple up-dos, braiding, facial cleansing, and basic make-up application. |
Spanish Fiesta | Join us as we learn the Spanish language in a fun environment that creates strong bonds of friendship through meaningful experiences! Students will engage in arts and crafts and hands-on projects while learning the Spanish language and learning about culture related to Spanish-speaking countries. They will have the opportunity to use and practice the language they are learning in an authentic and meaningful way! |
String Art | This class will teach the process of using thread and nails to form art called String Art. Students will utilize colors, angles, and their imagination to create an art form like no other! |
The Art of Cooking | The Art of Cooking is a basic cooking class for teens that will explore a wide variety of cooking methods. Students will have the opportunity to cook on the stovetop, grill, and oven. Students will also have an opportunity to bring home a variety of recipes and experience the joy of cooking from scratch. |
Service Project Descriptions
Service Project | Project Description |
Cards for Hospitalized Kids | Cards for Hospitalized Kids is an internationally recognized charitable organization that spreads hope, joy and magic to hospitalized kids across America through uplifting, handmade cards. Over 100,000 kids in hospitals nationwide have received cards. Students participating in this service project will create handmade cards to mail to hospitalized kids. This is a great way to have fun and give back at the same time. The handmade card will be used to bring joy and happiness to kids need. |
Columbia County Animal Protection Society (CCAPS) | CCAPS is a nonprofit organization that benefits abandoned or abused animals in Columbia County Arkansas. Their mission is to provide temporary humane care, food, water, shelter, and medical attention for stray, homeless, abandoned, and neglected animals. The shelter houses over 100 different dogs and cats and takes in over a 1000 unwanted animals each year. Students participating in this service project will help make toys for the dogs and cats at the shelter. Each toy made will bring joy to all the animals at CCAPS. |
Crocheting for a Cause | Members of Crocheting for a Cause put their hooks and yarn to a good use by coming together to make a difference in the lives of children, veterans, and cancer patients. Their goal is to bring joy and a smile to the faces of those they serve. Since 2012, they have donated over 1,000 lap blankets and caps to people in need. Students participating in this service project will learn the art of crocheting while making an impact on someone’s life. |
DudneyWood | DudneyWood is a retirement and assisted living community in Magnolia, Arkansas. Their mission is to provide a distinctive, dignified way of life that is not only safe, secure, and personalized but thoroughly enjoyable for their residents. Students participating in this service project will design floral arrangements. This will provide a positive emotional impact on the residents as well as serve as personal touches in their rooms. Flowers have an immediate impact on happiness and can have long-term positive effects on moods. |
Encompas Hospice | Those that work for or with Encompass Hospice are committed to delivering the highest care to their patients. Patients receive the best care for their needs at all times while receiving the support and guidance they need. Students participating in this service project will create door decorations for the patients of Encompass Hospice. By doing so, students will be supporting, encouraging, and comforting patients as they go through tough times. |
Operation Christmas Child | Operation Christmas Child is just one of the many projects organized by Samaritan’s Purse. The mission of Operation Christmas Child is to provide local churches around the world with shoebox gifts as a way to reach children in their communities. Students participating in this service project will help assemble shoeboxes for children in need. Through Operation Christmas Child, each shoebox made becomes a tangible expression of God’s love for a child in real life. |
Operation Gratitude | Operation Gratitude serves deployed troops, first responders, veterans, recruit graduates, wounded heroes and caregivers, and military families by delivering thousands of care packages filled with items donated by Americans and service-friendly companies. Every care package includes a bundle of letters from the American people and a paracord bracelet. Students participating in this service project will write letters thanking our troops, veterans, wounded heroes, and first responders for their service to our country. They will also make paracord bracelets that can be used to save the life of a solider in an emergency situation. |
The Pillow Ministry | The Pillow Ministry, in Magnolia, is a non-profit organization serving members of the community by making and donating pillows to those in need. The pillows are donated to residents in hospitals, nursing homes, patients undergoing physical therapy, expecting mothers, and daycares. Students participating in this service project will help make pillows that will be distributed to those in need in their community. |
