Can YOU surf the Big Data wave? | Are web-based five-star ratings reliable? Do web polls really show the truth? Are popular people really liked? Are liked people really popular? Why isn’t your homemade YouTube video in the top spot? How does Google rank its findings? Can we trust the data we get, and how can we know? Without doing the math, we will look at facts about data, trends, ratings, likes and upvotes. What does epopularity cost? |
Canvas & Art Craze | Students will be able to create their own version of a painted masterpiece by following along with the instructor. This class will offer simple techniques for students to find designs online that they can recreate at home. They also will have the opportunity to make a unique sculpture out of print materials that can be painted and decorated for display year round! |
Creative Art | While furnishing the students with a theme and various material, I will encourage and guide the students to create independently from within. |
Dr. Lindsey’s Mad Scientist Lab | Dr. Lindsey’s Mad Scientist Lab will consist of one day of dissection and two days of Lab experiment fun!
Day 1 – Create and paint your own homemade volcano Day 2 – Learn, explore, and dissect a fetal pig Day 3 – Erupt Volcano, Create a Bottle Rocket, and make MAGNETIC slime!! |
Entrepreneurship: The Power of You | This course seeks to increase awareness of regional economic activities and to demonstrate students’ human capital potential using various hands-on learning activities. Students will have the opportunity to work individually as well as in groups to answer questions, participate in class discussion, create visual displays, and present thoughts and findings in a friendly group setting. |
Fancy That! | Ever wanted to know how people write in those pretty and cool looking fonts? Now you can learn how! Join in the fun to learn fancy, fun, and funky writing skills to make your own posters, notebook covers, and put other cool touches on your own projects! |
FUNdamentals of Cheerleading | This class will be a basic cheer class involving cheers, chants, jumps, dance, stunts, and tumbling. The students will also learn correct technique and form as well as learning what being a cheerLEADER truly means. |
Hairology | Students will learn techniques and tips for flat ironing, curling, and braiding their hair by a licensed cosmetologist. They will also learn tips for fun and cute ponytails and updos. |
Idea Blitz | Idea Blitz is much like the popular TV show Shark Tank. In this class, students will be divided into teams and directed to come up with an idea for a business. SAU business students will serve as mentors for the teams.
Lessons would be broken down into the following categories: Customer Segments, Value Proposition, Channels, Customer Relationships, Revenue Streams, and Marketing. Students will work in teams to do the following: * Brainstorm an idea, * Articulate why it’s a good idea, * Identify competitors, * Create ideas for marketing their idea, * Prepare a five-minute (maximum) presentation Students may choose to focus on a product, service, software, or app for their business idea. A panel of judges will choose the winning team! |
Intermediate Archery | This course is designed to give additional, instruction to students who already have a knowledge and experience in Archery. Also for those who have had little or no Archery experience. There will be COMPETITIVE SHOOTING, GAMES, and PRIZES. If the student already owns a bow, they are encouraged to bring it to class. |
Mule Sports Mania! | Students will participate in a different non-contact sport each day. Sports will include football (flag), basketball, soccer, and tennis. Students will need athletic shoes/attire and sunscreen. Equipment and water will be provided. |
Piloxing Barre | Piloxing Barre utilizes fundamental disciplines of Boxing and Pilates, while using a ballet barre for stability and resistance. This Barre class is a 30 to 45 minute cardio program. This program includes 4 blocks of pilates influenced exercises, 2 blocks of cardio boxing, 1 block of arm blast exercise and 1 block of core work. You will lengthen, strengthen and box your heart out in this class! |
Small town, big dreams: How to travel the world | Young people are often fascinated by different countries, cultures, people, and yet it can be intimidating to figure out where to start in planning a future trip. In this interactive course students will learn about international travel; how to choose a place to go and when, potential sites of interest, tips for traveling on a limited budget, and much more. Ultimately, this class is meant to cultivate a love for learning about and traveling the world. |
The Art of Cooking | The Art of Cooking is a basic cooking class for teens that will explore a wide variety of cooking methods. Students will have the opportunity to cook on the stove top, grilling, and oven. Students will also have an opportunity to create their own recipe book from favorite home recipes. |
The Perfect Escape | Can you break out and escape a room on SAU Campus? Come try your hand at break out boxes by solving the puzzles. Clues will lead you to the answer to unlock the locks on the box. Prizes await those who can solve all the puzzles. Each day there will be a new exciting puzzle to solve in order to ESCAPE! Breakout sessions offer thrilling problem solving under the pressure of a ticking time clock. Can you make it? |
