Mule Sport Mania! | Students will participate in a different non-contact sport each day. Sports will include basketball, football (flag), soccer, and tennis. Students will need athletic shoes/attire and sunscreen. Equipment will be provided, but students are encouraged to bring their own tennis racquet and shin guards if they have them. Basics of Cookie Decorating | This course is an introduction to the basic art of decorative cookies. The instructor will explain the basic cookie decorating tools, bags, and tips. Cell-ebrate Science | In order for students to understand life science they must understand the most basic form of life, which is the cell. They must understand what it is made of and how it functions in order for there to be life at all . During this class, students will be able to identify all the main structures and functions of an animal cell. They will also create individual 3D replicas of an animal cell. | 7th, 8th, and 9th |

I Like Myself | For teenagers, confidence building is particularly important. Teenagers are experiencing a part of their life where they are able to do things they’ve never been able to do before, but lack the experience and competence to feel confident about doing those things well. With social anxiety , peer pressure, bodily changes, and dealing with the lack of maturity of their peers, it can be easy for a teenager’s confidence to remain compromised. During this class, we will focus on enhancing one’s confidence and self-esteem. We will also complete an individual art project highlighting each student’s individual uniqueness. | Available only for 7th and 8th graders |

Dr. Lindsey’s Science Lab | What are Owl Pellets?? Well, owls swallow their prey whole. They cannot digest their skull, claws, feathers, bones, teeth, or hair so they will regurgitate. The Science and History of Magic and Illusions | This course teaches students the basic mechanics of many famous illusions and gives students the tools to deconstruct, recreate, and experiment with those illusions. Go With Me Around the World | Students will choose their dream destination spot. They will then research and create a brochure and itinerary of interesting sights. Then they will create a PowerPoint presentation to promote this location. The goal is to persuade the teacher and the class to choose their location over the next student’s, by using technology. We will vote on the last day to choose the winner. Students will build on skills that they’ve learned or been exposed to already all while having fun and friendly competition. |

Basic Cake/Cupcake Decorating | In this class students will learn about and become familiar with the basic tools needed for cake decorating. They will learn how to make icing and will be given a recipe for future use. They will frost a cake and learn how to smooth the icing. They will learn basic piping techniques and how to add flair to their cakes by using these techniques. They will also learn how to color fondant and add basic fondant accents to their cakes. | 7th, 8th, and 9th |
Healthy Looks Good on U: MindBodyEmotions | The first session, #HelpingHands; teens will learn Hands-only CPR, the latest life-saving technique from the American Heart Association.® During the Hands-only CPR class, teens will train on the technique in one of the Department of Nursing’s simulated Clinical Learning laboratories. The latest CPR training technology, Laerdal’s Preston Pro CPR trainers, will be available for hands-on demonstration to ensure each teen can perform the necessary actions in an emergency situation.
Second session, #Selfie-healthy, teens will learn how to boost a healthy complexion by selecting and tasting nutritious foods, practice a daily skin care routine with tips for cleansing, choose the correct level of skin protection in a sunscreen and apply a daily skin protectant for the face. The group will also examine how drinking water affects the health of a teen’s complexion. Third session, #mindfulMe, teens will learn about sensory perception and common sensory alterations. Using props, games, and a simulated experience, the group will learn to recognize sensory overload and identify ways to help protect their hearing, vision, taste, smell, and memory. The final session, #namastaychill, will assist teens to identify stress and to use healthy techniques to manage the effects of stress on the human body, mind, and spirit. The group will learn music therapy, aromatherapy, breathing, positioning, and guided-imagery techniques that are proven to help teens ‘stay chill.’ |
