The Great Engineering Challenge | Lets engineer some of the greatest inventions of all time, but this time we’ll do it a little more unconventional. When it’s over, we’ll have sphaghetti bridges, sailing cars, bucket towers, and the fastest airplanes paper can make. Lets test out our creations and see how strong, how quick, and how stable they are. We will design and build bridges using spaghetti noodles, but will it hold? Let’s find out. Ever wondered if a car could move like a boat? We will create a car that sails like a ship, then race to see if our designs can withstand the wind. Next lets see if we can construct a bucket tower that can hold more weight than any other. Will it be strong enough to win first place? Kids Can Grill Too! | Kids Can Grill Too is a hands-on learning course where students gain experience in many different aspects of grilling. From lighting a grill utilizing a chimney to discovering the difference between direct and indirect heat, students will perform tasks in developing their own food creations. Healthy Eats and Tasty Treats | This is a food class to learn about what we put in our bodies and how it can affect us. We want to be cognitive of how foods are processed and what we are using as “fuel.” Along with learning the nutritional values of food, we will talk about food science and how foods interact with our bodies and learn what a healthy plate looks like. We will cook a different food items in order to learn how to measure, read a recipe, and follow direction. Basic Scrapbooking | Students will learn the basics of making an “All about Me” scrapbook . This will include making the pages and journaling about the picture. Math that Moves! | Is your child ready to have fun with math? This class was designed with them in mind! If your child is a visual, auditory, or kinesthetic learner, this is the class for them. This course will explore and examine the basic concepts and techniques of mathematics, and build from there! An effective mathematician must understand, represent, and solve problems involving addition and subtraction.
By the end of this course, the students will have gained a deeper understanding of the aforementioned concepts as well as geometry and graphing. As an added bonus, the students will earn “Mulerider Money” for coming to class each day, and being active participants. On the last day of camp, they will have the option to save or spend their income. |

Hoot! Hoot! I’m So Cute! | Children naturally love art! During this guided drawing tutorial, students will learn how to draw an owl that is cute, colorful, and beaming with personality. When their art work is finished, they will have a wonderful drawing to share and be proud of. Bones, Bones, Love them Bones! | Bones are beautiful and they tell a story. In this class, we will look at different mammal skulls and try to discover what the mammal ate by looking at its teeth. We will also look at models of human bones and learn the names of the bones as well as examine the function of the joints. We will look at some tiny bones from owl pellets and attempt to identify the critters that the owls ate and reconstruct their skeletons. Lastly, we will look at a variety of bones from various animals and compare them to each other. Mule Sport Mania! | Students will participate in a different non-contact sport each day. Sports will include basketball, football (flag), soccer, and tennis. Robotics | Robots are becoming more prevalent in today’s society. They are used in high level applications such as space exploration right through to commercial vacuuming robots found in everyday households. In this Robotics class, students will have the opportunity to build their own robots, learn how to make them move and respond to light, touch, and sound. Students will use problem solving, math, computer skills, and perseverance in programming their robots to complete a set of mazes. Students will even compete on the accuracy on completing the mazes. | 5th – 6th | |||
A Way with Words- Writing Across the Curriculum | The focus of this class will be to show students that writing can be fun! Students will participate in activities that integrate art, social studies, and science into writing. “Sherman’s March to the Sea” will be used to teach about the Civil War and Dorothea Lange’s “Migrant Mother,” from the Dust Bowl, will be used to engage students in writing. Students will participate in hands-on science and art activities, poetry writing, and technical science writing. | 5th – 6th | |||
411 in Career Investigation | Students will use technology to investigate, take a closer look at personal skills, interest, and possible future careers. Job Interview techniques will also be examined. Student presentations will be made discussing the “Ins” and “Outs” of career interviews. The presentations will be limited only to student imagination. They can use a multitude of medias from art to technology or a combination of all.
