Staff Senate Meeting Minutes

Staff Senators:
Members Present: Sharee Berry, Kayla Rasberry, Marisa Grippo, Lillie Wright, Gary Hickson,
Ann Sands, Wilson Impson, Drew Moore, Jennifer Ford, Margarita Norment, Sage Woodham,
Samantha Cloud, Greg Taylor, Angela McLaughlin
The Staff Senate met on Wednesday, September 15, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. via zoom
Start time: 2:02 p.m.
COVID UPDATE: (Dr. Berry)
-At this time there are twenty-two active cases on campus, one staff member, four quarantined
on campus
– No spread within the classrooms
-90.5% of faculty fully vaccinated
-87% of staff fully vaccinated
ENROLLMENT: (Dr. Berry)
– Fall: Up by two students
– Spring: Enrollment looking good, getting a lot of graduate applications and international
BUDGET: (Dr. Berry)
– Will hit right on the nose
INFO: (Dr. Berry)
– 2022 looking into a permanent change for test optional (students admissions will be based on
GPA not ACT); Still up in the air but looking at going permanent with taking GPA instead of
ACT scores for admissions.
– What’s next committee: STAY OUT FRONT!! This new committee will consist of new ideas
to keep SAU out front of others and wondering what is next. Will need several to serve on this
new committee.

Old News:
Service Project- Sage mentioned a place for the students to meditate; Idea similar to
South Eastern Oklahoma State (location: possibly the mall area); will need donations to complete
the project
-Look-up campaign: will start working on a date (possibly late October or beginning of
November) and handouts
-Will look into other service project ideas later
-Will need volunteers to help with planning the look-up campaign
Adjournment: The motion to adjourn was made by Marissa G. with a second by Margarita N.
