Staff Senate Meeting
November 18, 2015
The Staff Senate met on Wednesday, November 18, 2015 at 2:01 p.m. in Reynolds 205. Senators in attendance were Brad Stout, Deana Taylor, Britta Clark, Jodie Westfall, Jonathan Gray, Jake Dunham, Laura Wilkerson, Victor Moore, Barbara Torrence, Alta Malone, Sarah Adcox, Mary Bradshaw

Call to Order: 2:01 p.m.
Approval of Minutes
October 21, 2015 Minutes. Motion was made by Deana Taylor to approve minutes, second made by Jake Dunham.
Motion carried.
Old Business
Mission Statement Review-Will present to faculty senate with proposed suggestions, Mission Statement – put in that we are in agreement with adding back the words “free and” to the Mission Statement.
Action Project-Reviewed list of ideas, New idea: Mulerider Spirit award for Staff (will review in January meeting)
Committee Report
Staff Senate E-Board meeting with Dr. Berry-updates on President’s Home, New National FFA President (Taylor McNeel), and the Retention and completion committee (made up of faculty, staff, students, and other valuable stakeholders).
Making Magnolia Blossom (Nov. 21st)- Meeting at Parking lot in from of Overstreet hall to pick up shirts & supplies. Free hot dog lunch will be provided. Various projects around town: CCAPS, Women’s Domestic Violence center.
Letter to Staff Senate regarding full time staff members that teach; Reviewed Section 315 of University Handbook & a formal recommendation from the University Legal consult, Roger Giles.
• Jake Dunham motioned to include Roger Gile’s legal recommendation in regards to full time staff teaching in the staff handbook along with Section 315 of our University Handbook. Victor Moore, Second. Motion carried.
New Business
Angel Tree-Applications have gone out. Staff Senate will support our various departments with Angel Tree contributions and encourage departments to pick up families/children.
Volunteers-Deana mentioned the need for volunteers with data entry, putting up tree, sorting presents, and shopping.
Other
New Hires- Brad Stout left Reynolds Building Coordinator to work as Director of Emergency Systems & Student Affairs Facilities.

The motion to adjourn was made by Barbara Torrence with a second by Laura Wilkerson. The next Staff Senate meeting will be Wednesday, January 20th, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. in Reynolds 205.
