Staff Senate Minutes
April 11, 2007
The Staff Senate met on April 11, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. in Reynolds 210. Senators in attendance were: Jill Bond, Wilma Williams, La’Tricia Davis, Wayne Garner, Brenda Garrett, Dr. Roger Guevara, Mary Hubbard, Pat King, Kellye Ogle, Linda Smith, Cledis Stuart, Houston Taylor, and David Wingfield. Brenda Garrett served as proxy for Art Horne, and Wilma Williams served as proxy for Beth Scroggins. There was one guest in attendance: Judy Hines.
Approval of Minutes
The meeting was called to order by President Houston Taylor. A motion to accept the minutes was made by David Wingfield and seconded by La’Tricia Davis. The motion passed.
Old Business
There was no old business.
Committee Reports
Health
The Health Committee is in the process of creating an interest survey. Discussion included ways to track fitness progress, incentives to get people involved, development of training programs, and the availability of equipment for working out.
Academic Affairs
The next meeting of the Academic Affairs Committee includes 48 items on the agenda with the prospect of new honors college classes.
Staff Breakfast
Houston extended congratulations to the planning committee for the breakfast. They did an excellent job, and a wonderful time was had by all.
Other
Ballots for the current Staff Senate Elections are due April 12, 2007. New senators begin serving with the May meeting. Kellye Ogle will be the new president, and elections for other officers will be held at the next meeting in May.
J. Kay Sawyer has sent notice that she is resigning her post as senator due to illness. A special election will be held to fill her position.
Houston informed the Senate that the Faculty Senate had endorsed the Staff Senate proposal for the elimination of institutional tuition waiver refunds in order to fund 100 percent tuition waiver for employee dependents.
A motion was made by Wayne Garner to move the next senate meeting to May 16, 2007 at 2:00. This was seconded by Cledis Stuart. The motion passed.

The motion to adjourn was made by Kellye Ogle and seconded by La’Tricia Davis.
