College Expectations – Communication and Email
Communication is key! Please let us know if you are having problems at home or school. We are here to help, but we can’t help you if we don’t know you are struggling.
- Communicate with your instructor if you have a circumstance preventing you from meeting your due dates. For example, an illness or death in the family.
- Study time – College courses require more time
- Study in your daily study hours
- Do not fall behind in your coursework.
- If you fall behind, please communicate with your instructor and counselor. If you are unable to keep up with your schoolwork, consider dropping the course with a “W” before the final drop date.
- Make sure to include your name, the course you are enrolled in, and that you are a concurrent student in your emails to your College professors.
College Expectations – Advocate for yourself
- You are responsible for reaching out to your instructors, not your parents or counselor.
- Your blackboard is a great way to show your course progress to your parents.
- Remember to use classroom etiquette and respect your fellow students in all of your courses.
Syllabus
- Your course syllabus is your one-stop shop for all things related to your course. Each instructor will give you a syllabus, and any questions about the class will be found in it.
- Please study your course syllabus and write down important assignments and test dates. Read it entirely on the first day of class, mark down all the critical due dates, contact information, etc.
- Make sure you log into Blackboard every day and stay on top of announcements and deadlines. It’s recommended that Concurrent students log in every day Monday-Friday to stay on top of announcements.
- If you do not log in, your instructor will notify the concurrent office and the early alert office, and we will then reach out to you.
- Instructors can see how often you log in to BB and how many minutes you spend in the session.
Academic Integrity
There are plenty of resources available to you. If you are struggling with a course, communicate that with the instructor. We do not know your struggling unless you let us know.
You can read more about the Academic Integrity policy here.
Concurrent Forms
Each student and parent completed two concurrent forms in addition to admission.
- The Student/Parent Agreement form explains the responsibilities of both the student and parent. The student portion outlines expectations of academic integrity, rigor of coursework, and adherence to University policies. The parental consent form allows us to offer you concurrent classes. It explains what concurrent courses mean for the student, expectations, and University policies that parents need to be aware of.
- The FERPA form allows us to release your grades to your counselor and parents, but it does not allow them to communicate with your instructor on your behalf. That is YOUR responsibility.
View Grades
Students can view their grades for each course via Blackboard in the student gradebook.
Unofficial transcripts, 4-week, Midterm, and Final grades can be viewed through Campus Connect>Registration Options>grade viewer or Academic transcript
