Nexstar is seeking to hire a Weather Content Producer. The Weather Content Producer produces weather reports for both kark.com and fox16.com, cuts and uploads video, produces unique content, and updates social media accounts on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
Responsibilities:
- Produces and presents weather reports for all platforms
- Ensures that all weather content meets company standards for journalistic integrity and production quality
- Writes and delivers weather stories in a clear and concise manner
- Assists in writing, copy editing, researching, and coordinating weather programming and other content
- Responds to breaking and/or severe weather events and other urgent newsroom situations as required
- Works closely with the weather team and management to develop comprehensive weather coverage
- Participates in promotional activities including public appearances
- Performs special projects and other duties as assigned
- Writes web stories detailing the local forecast daily
- Digital-first mindset
- Strong social-media presence
- Updates social media accounts
- Produces live-streaming content across all platforms
- Produces original content for CTV, VOD, and all other platforms
- Writes and edits stories for KARK.com, FOX16.com, AST app, and the Arkansas Storm Team Blog
- Performs other tasks as necessary
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and work-related experience.
- Fluency in English.
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
- Minimum two years’ experience in news operations. (More or less depending on market size.)
- Proficiency with computers, telephones, copiers, scanners, fax machines, and other office equipment.
- Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize assignments, and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Flexibility to work any shift.
