The Upward Bound Program at Southern Arkansas University held its annual Senior Recognition and Awards Ceremony on Saturday, May 7, 2022. Former participant, Gabrielle
Davis, Esq., was the keynote speaker.
Twenty-Eight students from 9 schools received Upward Bound diplomas: Takya Coleman, Keundra Matlock, Taylor Reed, Crishe’ Stevenson, and Rashad Thrower, Arkansas High; Zahmaurri Vickers, Blevins High; Billendria Harris, Christian Rodriguez, and Jaylan Taylor, Bradley High; Latarra Curtis and Mark Welch, Camden Fairview High; Arriuna French, Corneshia Griffin, Brianna Smith, and Norman Smith, Emerson High; Ju’Nyria Kemp, LaFayette County High; Chassidy Carter, Missouri Davis, Mariyah Easter, Gabriel Garcia,
Bracelynn Glover, Sha’Laynce Jones, Ke’Terrious Robinson, Devonta Walker, and A’Nyri Wright, Magnolia High School; Skylar Pearson, Nevada High School; Samuel Rayburn and Ethan Taylor, Taylor High School.
Upward Bound Scholarships were awarded to Arriuna French, Emerson High School; Gabriel Garcia, Magnolia High School; and Christian Rodriguez, Bradley High School (Upward Bound Charles Hughey Scholarship). The Scholarships are valued at $5,000 ($2,500 /semester for the 1st and 2nd semesters).

Twelve UB graduates enrolled in our summer Bridge Program, each earning up to 6 hours of college credit. Eight graduates from the Class of 2022 are attending Southern Arkansas University this fall.
