Credit for individual study and informal educational experience may be earned through College Level Examination Program (CLEP), Advanced Placement Program (AP), and Departmental Examination of Competency. The Southern Arkansas University, Magnolia, Academic Affairs Committee has established policy requirements and restrictions on all credit by examination. Interested students should inquire through the Office of Testing for detailed information and policy standards. No more than 15 semester hours of credit toward the associate degree (30 semester hours for nursing) and no more than 30 semester hours credit toward the baccalaureate degree will be accepted; this credit includes CLEP, AP, correspondence courses, and credit by departmental examination. Credit by any type of examination is not considered residence credit. Consequently, credit by departmental exam will not count in the student’s semester class load. The credit will appear on the transcript by showing credit for the course replaced by the examination; however, no letter grade will be issued.
