Nominations are invited for the 2023-2024 Mary Anna King Whitehead Staff Excellence Awards. Any student, faculty member, staff member, or alum may nominate one professional staff member and one support staff member for consideration for each award. Complete the nomination forms online by simply clicking the links to the left and following the prompts provided. One excellence award in each category will be awarded. Each award carries with it a prize of $500. Nominees must be full-time professional staff members or support staff members who are at least in their second year of full-time employment by Southern Arkansas University, Magnolia (employed before January 1, 2023). Previous winners are not eligible for five years.
The selection committee for the excellence awards is made up of previous award recipients from the past five years (those not eligible to receive the award for the current year). The Staff Senate President selects the chair from the selection committee. The chair of the selection committee collects the nomination forms from the Office of Human Resources. The committee reviews nominations and the award recipients are selected.
The Mary Anna King Whitehead Staff Excellence Awards have been fully endowed through the Southern Arkansas University Foundation. The endowment was funded by current and former Governors of the University Foundation in memory of Mrs. Whitehead who was a six-year member and former chairperson of the Foundation Board. Investment income from the Whitehead Endowment is funding the two University staff excellence awards in perpetuity.
All nominations must be received by Tuesday, March 26, 2024.
