Southern Arkansas University (SAU) invites applications for the Grants and Proposal Development Officer position. This is a 12-month tenure, full-time or part-time, in-person or remote position, renewable, subject to performance and funding availability.
Duties: assist Southern Arkansas University faculty and administrators in the preparation and submission of federal grant proposals; identify funding opportunities for research, workforce development, and other service programs; coordinate and manage the proposal development process; draft supporting documents; and edit proposal components while collaborating with internal and/or external stakeholders; help lead the grant-writing process by crafting compelling proposals, taking initiative to identify potential funding sources, reviewing sponsor guidelines and key requirements, uploading materials to electronic submission portals, and supporting corrections and revisions prior to submission; review Grants.gov, Research.gov, and other central proposal registration and submission platforms, and other duties assigned.
Qualifications: Master’s degree with some experience with successful grant writing, or Bachelor’s degree and years of successful science grant writing experience, or related experience in a science communication field, including extensive writing and administrative expertise; excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills with strong editing ability and a high degree of professionalism when interacting with all levels of management; demonstrated independence, initiative, and strong organizational skills; highly proficient research and analytical abilities; capacity to recognize administrative challenges, negotiate issues, and implement effective solutions; proven ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects and competing deadlines efficiently; ability to work cooperatively and effectively with individuals of diverse personalities, educational levels, and backgrounds; excellent computer skills with advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint); and a consistent ability to maintain confidentiality in all work performed.
