Southern Arkansas University (SAU) invites applications for a nine-month, non-tenure-track Instructor of Criminal Justice/Emergency Management housed in the Department of Behavioral and Social Sciences within the College of Liberal and Performing Arts. The position begins in August 2026.
Duties: Teach undergraduate courses in Criminal Justice and Emergency Management, including introduction to Emergency Management, Critical Infrastructure and Protection, Homeland Security, Technology in Emergency Management; advise students; serve on departmental and university committees; engage in professional development and scholarly activity, and other duties assigned. The standard teaching load is typically a 5/5. This position requires teaching face-to-face courses. The position includes service responsibilities that support program growth and sustainability through engagement with students, institutional partners, and relevant community and professional organizations.
Qualifications: Master’s degree in Criminal Justice, Emergency Management, Homeland Security, or a closely related field; practical experience in criminal justice or emergency management; evidence of effective college-level teaching; proficiency with instructional technology and learning management systems, such as Blackboard Ultra. The Department of Behavioral and Social Sciences offers bachelor’s degrees in psychology, social work, cyber criminology, criminal justice, and emergency management, and emphasizes interdisciplinary teaching and applied practice across the social sciences.
