Southern Arkansas University is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Agriculture Technician to support academic, research, and operational functions within the Department of Agriculture. This individual will play a key role in maintaining university agricultural facilities and assisting faculty and students in hands-on learning and research activities.
Duties: operate and maintain farm equipment, lawn equipment, and facilities to include but not limited to Greenhouse, Poultry Education Facility, and Animal Science Facility; monitor bird health, feed and water consumption, and environmental controls of the Poultry Education Facility; assist with livestock care in the Animal Science Facility; supervise and train student workers in safe agricultural practices; assist faculty with laboratories and research projects; assist with special functions such as university-hosted events, FFA contests, field days, and educational programs; ensure compliance with safety standards, environmental regulations, and animal welfare practices; and other duties as assigned by the department chair.
Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in agriculture required; interact professionally with staff and public; working knowledge of farm equipment, lawn equipment, animal care, and greenhouse production; ability to lift heavy objects and work outdoors in various weather conditions; strong communication and teamwork skills.
