Southern Arkansas University, a NCAA Division II member institution and member of the Great American Conference (GAC) is seeking applicants for the position of Assistant Baseball Coach. Candidates will be expected to be in full compliance with the University, NCAA and GAC regulations and will work as a Retention Specialist in the Department of Early Intervention Services.
Duties: support the head coach in all phases of a highly competitive program including but not limited to: assist with the development and supervision of the student-athletes in the baseball program; assist with offensive and defensive development of student-athletes; assist with organizing, conducting, and supervising all practices and games; assist with recruiting quality student-athletes under the guidelines established by the University, the NCAA and the GAC; assist with admissions, on-campus housing, and enrollment of recruited student-athletes; assist with budgetary responsibilities including recruitment, team travel, and equipment; monitor student-athletes academic progress; assist with community fund-raising efforts and public relations; daily outreach/intervention to campus student body related to academic issues such as class attendance, missed assignments and poor class performance; assist Director of Early Intervention Services with maintaining Early Intervention reporting and documentation; assist Director of Early Intervention Services with outreach of “at risk” students during campus wide 4 week and midterm grade reporting and other duties assigned.
Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s preferred; demonstrate evidence of successful experience in coaching; record of success in collegiate and/or interscholastic coaching; effective communication, excellent written and oral communication skills with a strong attention to detail; interpersonal skills and commitment to total success of students.
