The Department of Teacher Education at Southern Arkansas University invites applicants for a tenure track position for Assistant Professor of Education. Housed in the College of Education and Human Performance, the Department of Teacher Education currently offers undergraduate degrees in Elementary and Middle School Education and undergraduate minors in education. The department also offers a graduate MAT degree. This position begins in August 2025.

Duties: teach 12 hours of graduate and undergraduate coursework in teacher licensure programs; advise undergraduate education majors; develop and revise course curricula to meet state and national accreditation standards; show a commitment to quality instruction; participate in recruitment and retention activities for the College of Education and Human Performance; participate in service opportunities for the program, department, college and university; work collaboratively with colleagues to prepare university, state, and national accreditation and grant reports; engage in scholarly activities appropriate to the discipline and other duties as assigned.
Qualifications: earned doctorate in a field related to teacher education; current teaching license required; minimum of (3) three years teaching experience in K-12 schools; evidence of teaching online and face to face at the university level; evidence of scholarship in education; excellent written and oral communication skills. Prioritization will be given to candidates with expertise in science or social studies through the secondary level. Prioritization will be given to candidates with prior teacher education preparation experience and evidence of effective pedagogy.
