The Natural Resource Research Center (NRRC) at Southern Arkansas University (SAU) is accepting applications for a full-time postdoctoral position in chemistry.
The Natural Resource Research Center is an approximately 3,000 square-foot facility, initially funded jointly by SAU and a grant from the Department of Commerce through the Arkansas Economic Development Administration and was completed by the NRRC, which consists of seven separate laboratories and is thoroughly equipped with state-of-the-art analytical instrumentation to meet the needs of industries, public agencies, and private citizens. The center recognizes its responsibility to aid in the training of scientists to meet the needs of the region. Duties: oversee municipal water quality analysis and industry-based projects with the growing chemical manufacturing companies in Southwest Arkansas and participate in grantsmanship and mentor undergraduate student projects and other duties assigned.
Qualifications: must have a terminal degree such as a PhD in Analytical Chemistry and in-depth experience with spectroscopic methods, such as Inductively Coupled Plasma (ICP), is preferred; familiarity with separation methods such as gas chromatography/mass spectroscopy (ICP/GC/MS), high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC), and ion chromatography (IC) is recommended; must be well organized and able to work with students from diverse backgrounds; must have good writing and communication skills; must be experienced in working in a multidisciplinary team. The position will initially be available for up to 2 years with renewal based on satisfactory performance.
