The Department of Teacher Education at Southern Arkansas University invites applicants for an Instructor level position. Housed in the College of Education and Human Performance, the Department of Teacher Education currently offers undergraduate degrees in Elementary and Middle School Education and undergraduate minors in education. The department also offers a graduate MAT degree. This position begins in January 2025.

Duties: teach the equivalent of 15 hours of coursework and field experiences each semester; teach weekly residency seminars in partnering districts; serve as the liaison between the university and the school district partners; design and present mentor-teacher training; provide intensive instructional coaching for teacher candidates within their districts 3 times per week; gather and analyze candidate data for instruction and governance meetings; participate in recruitment and retention for the College of Education and Human Performance; participate in service opportunities for the program, department, college and university; observe, assess, and evaluate student teachers regularly regarding teaching, planning, management and professionalism; work collaboratively with colleagues and help in preparing university, state, and national accreditation, grant data and reports and other duties as assigned.
Qualifications: Master’s degree in education or related field and current teaching license required; minimum of (3) three years teaching experience in a K-12 setting to include special education; evidence of teaching online and face to face at the university level; strong interpersonal skills; leadership qualities that promote teamwork and the capacity to balance team and individual responsibilities; communicate effectively with people of diverse backgrounds. Prioritization will be given to candidates with student teaching and/or internship supervision experience.
