Southern Arkansas University and the Department of Biology is accepting applications for a nine-month, tenure track Assistant or Associate Professor of Public Health with an expertise in any area of public health. Candidates must be broadly trained and have a strong commitment to teaching undergraduate students in both core and elective courses in the Public Health curriculum. The successful candidate will be expected to lead and grow the Bachelor of Science in Public Health Program in a diverse and rural area of Southwestern Arkansas. The successful applicant will join a highly collaborative department and work closely with both full-time and adjunct faculty with a variety of expertise in public health-related fields. The Department of Biology is located in a modern and well equipped 64,000 square foot science building and is part of the College of Science and Engineering. Duties: teaching responsibilities may include Fundamentals of Public Health, Health Care and Public Health Policy, Epidemiology, Program Planning and Evaluation, and Personal and Community Health, Legal and Ethical Considerations of Healthcare, Research Methods and/or Elective courses in the applicant’s area of expertise. Additionally, the successful applicant will be expected to involve undergraduate students in research projects, conduct scholarly activity in their area of expertise, coordinate experiential internships in the community for students, seek external funding to support the program and its students, be involved with recruitment strategies for the program, and other duties assigned. The successful applicant will also serve in a consultative role for the Healthcare Administration program offered in the College of Business and may have the opportunity to develop, teach, or coordinate courses shared by the two programs.
Qualifications: earned doctorate in Public Health, a DrPH, MD or a closely related terminal degree; must have teaching experience.
