Duties: Responsible for identifying, recruiting, selecting, enrolling and providing services to eligible participants that requires career development counseling, providing information on postsecondary opportunities and helping participants complete postsecondary admissions applications and financial aid forms and tutoring; work with assigned target area school counselors and community leaders to coordinate project activities including, but not limited to, tutoring, course advisement, financial aid and college enrollment, career workshops, and cultural enrichment; maintain a positive work environment by cooperating in a professional manner and other duties as assigned.
Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in social work, education, or related field required; Master’s degree in guidance and counseling or related field preferred; strong commitment to the advancement of socially, economically, and educationally deprived populations; specific knowledge of career counseling, educational opportunities, financial aid, college enrollment procedures, and college course selection; excellent oral and written communication skills; public service oriented. Special consideration will be given to persons who have succeeded in overcoming the disadvantages of, or experience with socially, economically, disadvantaged, and educationally deprived populations.
