Duties: Provide excellent customer service to students, parents and staff; process cash, check, credit card and internal transactions using the university accounting system; reconcile cash drawer with accuracy, taking responsibility for appropriate safeguards; review student account details and explain charges as needed; counsel students, parents and staff regarding tuition and fees, account balances, scholarships, waivers, payments, payment plans, refunds, and related policies and procedures; process daily tasks including transcript requests, verification forms, financial deferments/cancellations, and student emergency loans; use computer database to access, input, and retrieve student financial records; understand , apply and remove student financial holds; actively assist in the student registration process; work closely and collaboratively with other student accounts specialists and other key departments on campus; work with external payment plan companies and collection agencies; adhere to confidentiality standards and FERPA guidelines; maintain a professional demeanor and other duties as assigned.
Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree preferred, but a combination of experience/education may be substituted; two years related work experience; communicate well both verbally and in writing; able to work independently and collaboratively with special projects; multi-task, utilize time management and be well organized; work in a fast-paced environment; use computer database and imaging system; process basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office; apply de-escalation techniques and handle potentially stressful situations; be detailed oriented and self-motivated.
