Southern Arkansas University is hosting a “Summer Health Professions Education Camp” for high school students interested in a career in health care for four days this summer, from June 26 through June 29, 2023. Students will participate in activities related to public health, medicine, genetics, microbiology, and anatomy led by SAU faculty and other outside experts. The camp activities will commence the morning of Monday, June 26 and go through the end of the day on Thursday, June 29. The opportunity (including room and board) is free and students will be paid a stipend to participate in the 4-day camp as part of an initiative developed in a partnership between SAU, Arkansas Department of Health (ADH) and the Centers of Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to build a more diverse health care workforce in rural America.
We will begin the selection process June 1, and students will know within a week if they have a slot for the summer camp. We will also have a waiting list in the event of cancellations.
