Southern Arkansas University is hosting a “Summer Health Professions Education Camp” for high school students interested in a career in health care for four days this summer, from June 27th through June 30th, 2022. Students will be housed in Eichenburger Hall on the SAU campus and participate in activities related to public health, medicine, genetics, microbiology, and anatomy led by SAU faculty and other outside experts. The camp activities will commence the morning of Monday, June 27th and go through the end of the day on Thursday, June 30th. The opportunity (including room and board) is free and students will be paid a stipend to participate in the 4-day camp as part of an initiative developed in a partnership between SAU, Arkansas Department of Health (ADH) and the Centers of Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to build a more diverse health care workforce in rural America.
We will begin the selection process May 20, and students will know within a week if they have a slot for the summer camp. We will also have a waiting list in the event of cancellations.
