It’s early May, which means the spring semester is just about finished here at Southern Arkansas University. This means Dr. Drexler is concluding his two classes (General Anthropology and North American Indians), giving finals, and preparing for commencement.
We are also busied at this time of year with wrapping up some research projects that need to be finished come summer. This year’s efforts include reports on the spring’s surveys at Elkins’ Ferry and Wallace’s Ferry battlefields. The Arkansas Historic Preservation Program is due a report on the former, and the Arkansas Humanities Council gets one for the latter.
It is also time to start looking to June and the Arkansas Archeological Society’s annual Training Program dig. This year, we are returning to Richards Bridge (3CT11), near West Memphis. We will start the weekend of June 4, and run through the 19th. Check out the Society website for details. Perhaps we’ll see you in the field!
