Why volunteer in the community?
- It gives valuable experience that can be put on a resume
- You can network and gain new friendships
- Volunteering teaches you how to deal with the public, different races and how to work as part of a team.
Before volunteering
It’s good to assess yourself to see:
- if you’d rather volunteer as part of a team or alone.
- if you’d rather be working with people or not.
- how much free time you want to invest.
- what your interests may be and what is important to you.
When you know the answers to these questions, it makes choosing where you volunteer your time even easier.
Volunteering strengthens the community.
Volunteering builds your self-esteem and gives you a way to pay forward kindnesses that may have been given to you in the past.
