SAU Educator Preparation Programs Are Nationally Accredited
AAQEP Accreditation Status
Southern Arkansas University's initial and advanced educator preparation programs have been granted accreditation by the Association for Advancing Quality in Educator Preparation (AAQEP), effective November 18, 2025. Both programs received a five-year nonrenewable accreditation term extending through December 31, 2030. For more detailed information regarding this accreditation decision, please see below.

| Comment: The Commission notes that beyond the required academic structures, the initial teacher preparation program provides supportive personal and professional resources as needed, leading to the successful completion of teacher candidates within the local community and school setting. This notation pertains to Aspect 3g, which seeks evidence of the provider’s capacity and commitment to program quality. | Commendation: Southern Arkansas University’s Library Media candidates participate in a biannual Library Makeover experience at a local school, where they apply practical skills, concepts, and resources in a relevant and effective way, thus meeting the needs of regional schools. This notation pertains to Aspect 4a, which expects the provider to engage with local partners and community members to support high-need schools. |
AAQEP Annual Report
AAQEP accreditation requires the annual submission and publication of program data by December 31 each year.
