Students from the leadership in recreation and school/community recreation classes sponsored the 9th annual Christmas Carnival for kindergarten students at Westside Elementary. More than 209 kindergarteners participated in games, ate snacks, saw Santa Claus, and watched a play.
Dr. Suzanne Jessup to speak at December graduation Friday
Honor Professor 2005 Dr. Suzanne Jessup will be the guest speaker at the December 2005 commencement ceremony to be held at 6 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 16, in the W.T. Watson Athletic Center on the campus ofSouthern Arkansas University.

SAWN offers scholarship
The Magnolia chapter of South Arkansas Women’s Network is sponsoring an academic scholarship at Southern Arkansas University, Magnolia, in the amount of $200 to be used to offset the cost of books or other designated purposes not interfering with the eligibility of other scholarships.

SAU music professor serves as guest clinician at choral festival
Dr. Allen Clements, director of choral activities at Southern Arkansas University, Magnolia, recently served as guest clinician for the senior high mixed choir at the 2005 Southwest All-Region Choir Festival.
More than 30 high schools from across the southwest portion of Arkansas were represented at the festival that was organized by the Arkansas Choral Directors Association
Waterfield signs contract for representation with art gallery
Doug Waterfield, assistant professor of art at Southern Arkansas University, recently signed a contract for representation with the Cox Creative Gallery in Little Rock.
“I am excited to be working with the Cox Creative Gallery,” said Waterfield. “It will be great to have a regular venue in which to display and sell my work.”
SAU students, professor attend state convention

SAU professor publishes bilingual anthology
Dr. Yonghu Dai, assistant professor of Spanish at Southern Arkansas University, Magnolia, published a bilingual anthology (Spanish and Chinese) of the Nicaraguan poet Ruben Dario.
Dai started his research and translation on Dario when he was a graduate student at Peking University in China. He wrote a thesis on the Nicaraguan poet for his master’s degree
Two professors present papers at professional meetings
Two professors from the College of Science and Technology at Southern Arkansas University recently presented papers at professional meetings in Oklahoma and Kentucky.
Dr. Rudolph Eichenberger, professor of physics, presented a paper at the recent Arkansas, Oklahoma, and Kansas regional meeting of the American Association of Physics Teachers held in Oklahoma City, Okla.
