From the moment Ashley Wan took her first psychology class, she knew what major she wanted to pursue at Southern Arkansas University, Magnolia.
“I took an intro to psychology class with Dr. (Chrisanne) Christensen, and it was very challenging,” said the junior psychology major from Magnolia. “She made the class so interesting. I declared my major right after that class.”
Two years later, Ashley still loves her major and the entire Department of Behavioral and Social Sciences at the University.
“I can hang out in the professors’ offices and they don’t mind,” she said. “I feel comfortable with my professors.”
Her classes are just one of the many things Ashley loves about SAU.
“As a home town girl, I went to all of the Mulerider ballgames,” said the 2003 Magnolia High School graduate. “When I grew up, I wanted to cheer for the Muleriders.”
And she did. For two years she was a member of the SAU cheerleading squad. She was also crowned Miss SAU during her first year of college.
When she is not studying, Ashley spends a lot of time at her job. She works as a personal trainer at Physiques.
Soon, she will have a wedding to plan. Ashley and her fiancée, Bobby Beason, are scheduled to marry in December 2007. Bobby is currently playing professional baseball in Phoenix. He left Magnolia in March and will not return until September.
The couple will plan their wedding after the current baseball season.
