Fall Color Guard
The SAU Color Guard provides an exciting and accessible performance opportunity for students, regardless of musical background or experience. Members of the SAU Color Guard are not required to play an instrument in order to participate in the program. All members who perform during the fall semester receive scholarships, just like members of the Mulerider Marching Band.
Membership in the SAU Color Guard is determined through an audition process held during the spring semester prior to fall semester. Anyone, including high school seniors, is eligible to audition. Information regarding audition sign-ups is posted on the SAU Band’s website and social media platforms.

Spring Winter Guard
The SAU Independent Winter Guard provides students with an additional performance opportunity during the spring semester through competitive indoor color guard. The ensemble competes with the Arkansas Marching Arts Association and the Four States Performing Arts Association. While members of the SAU Color Guard are encouraged to audition, participation is open to all current SAU students.
Membership is determined through an audition process held near the end of the fall semester. Information regarding audition sign-ups is posted on the SAU Band’s website and social media platforms. All members of the SAU Independent Winter Guard receive scholarships.
