Specialty Ensembles
Rider Sound Basketball Band
In addition to the other large ensembles, Southern Arkansas University Bands also has the Rider Sound, which performs at all men’s and women’s basketball home games. Auditions are held for the group in the fall semester and scholarships are available to students who participate.
The Rider Sound is directed by Dr. Andrew Ortega.
Small Ensembles
Southern Arkansas University Bands also hosts a variety of small instrumental ensembles that students may participate in. These ensembles include:

- French Horn Quartet
- Trombone Choir
- Flute Choir
- Saxophone Quartet
